Developer sandbox, not live merchant payments

A Square merchant account handles real sales. Square Developer Sandbox provides separate test applications, test locations and test credentials. Signing in to Square Developer Dashboard is not signing in to this storefront; your Lovable username or password is never needed here.

1. In the interactive Lovable editor chat, ask to enable payments and complete its setup form. Payment setup cannot be completed from this session. Then return to continue the Square sandbox-only integration.
2. Open Square Developer Dashboard, create or select your application, and choose Sandbox. Use the sandbox test account and its sandbox location, not a live merchant location.
3. Once the sandbox integration is ready to continue, save the sandbox values in Project Settings → Secrets: SQUARE_SANDBOX_APPLICATION_ID, SQUARE_SANDBOX_LOCATION_ID, and SQUARE_SANDBOX_ACCESS_TOKEN. Never paste the access token into chat, this page, or browser storage.
4. The sandbox application ID and location ID may be shared with the test card form. The access token must remain private on the server. Only sandbox test cards may be used; never enter a real card.

Saving credentials alone will not activate checkout. The sandbox SDK, secure cart validation, and Square-confirmed payment submission still require implementation after payment setup is enabled.
